Dipping French fries into milkshakes is a sweet and savory combination many people have come to enjoy. If you’re a fan of this sugary and salty duo, this Idaho ice cream flavor might be for you.
The Idaho Potato Commission and Van Leeuwen, a New York-based brand known for its made-from-scratch ice cream, have teamed up to create Idaho Malted Milkshake and Fries French ice Cream. It’s a limited-edition ice cream flavor made with Idaho potatoes and milkshake-flavored ice cream.
According to the Potato Commission, a national survey ranked fries and milkshakes as one of the best combinations, beating out biscuits and gravy and chicken and waffles.
“The survey results confirmed for us that Idaho potatoes in any form, are the most versatile vegetable; the pairing options are endless,” explained Jamey Higham, President, and CEO, IPC. “Idaho potatoes have earned their place at breakfast, lunch, and dinner, now we’ve got dessert covered, too!”
Idaho Malted Milkshake & Fries French Ice Cream features bites of French fries throughout, which were created by Van Leeuwen’s pastry team using Idaho potato flakes. The rest of the ice cream has a caramel milkshake flavor.
Customers can get their hands on a pint of this unique and local flavor online for $12 while supplies last. The flavor is also available at Van Leeuwen ice cream stores if you find yourself in New York or Los Angeles.
