Prime IV Hydration & Wellness hopes to inject a trendy new wellness concept into the Region, recently opening its first Indiana location in Valparaiso.
One of a few IV clinics to pop up recently in Northwest Indiana, a locally owned franchise of the national chain opened in a newly built strip mall at 1703 Calumet Ave. The 1,400-square-foot business employs a half-dozen people, including registered nurses who administer the intravenous fluids.
“We do IV hydration with vitamins, minerals and amino acids,” owner Kristin Knight said. “It’s 100% absorption from an injection.”
Prime IV also offers a variety of injections of amino acids, minerals and vitamins like B vitamins and vitamin C.
It has 14 different IV drips meant to serve various wellness needs. Different IVs aim to hydrate, fight fatigue, improve athletic performance and help people recover from hangovers. They can be customized to swap out anything someone might be allergic to.
Top sellers are Glow, Immunity Armor and The Myers Cocktail, an intravenous cocktail of magnesium chloride, calcium gluconate, B-complex, B-5, B-6, vitamin C and B-12 that’s intended to relieve conditions like migraines, depression, asthma, fatigue, aches, pains, fibromyalgia, muscle spasm, respiratory infections, allergies and gastrointestinal issues, Knight said.
Another popular option is the Skinny Drip that’s intended to speed up metabolism and decrease appetite.
“We serve a number of different people, from those interested in wellness or athletic performance or those who are traveling and need an immunity boost,” she said. “We serve avid outdoors people and provide handover relief.”Knight chose to open the first location in Valparaiso because it’s where she lives. She’s looking to open as many as 16 locations across Indiana, including potentially more in Northwest Indiana.
The Valparaiso location accepts walk-ins but appointments are preferred. People get VIP treatment where they are pampered with a massage chair, a head-to-toe massage, a blanket and a complimentary vitamin water with their first appointment.
“We’ve gotten feedback that people look better and perform better,” she said. “I think people are tired of being sick and sick of being tired.”
Prime IV Hydration & Wellness is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday.
